Moda Urbana 7.21.09: Fun with scarves
A scarf in the dead of summer is a very bold fashion statement. Kudos to Cynthia the intern who chose to wear her grandmother’s scarf as an accent to an otherwise inappropriate office dress, the tube top dress. See how Cynthia drapes the scarf in a long circular way, blocking the eye from cleavage while dressing up a very casual outfit. This girl has fashion sense and elegance.-Lisa Degliantoni

My El Paso Garden Facebook Group
This week a new Facebook group was born: My El Paso Garden. The function of the group is to work as an online food coop, where users list harvest items they are willing to swap and then meet in physical locales to trade food. Also listed on the group page is photos from El Paso gardens that will inspire just about anyone to plant some seeds in some dirt! Pictured below is a recent harvest from my garden, lettuce.-Lisa Degliantoni

Moda Urbana: El Paso’s Great Gatsby
It’s that time of year when boys wear light suits, but white suits? Our very ambitious intern, Victoria Molinar, grabbed this photo of City Council Rep. Beto O’Rourke during today’s City Council meeting lunch break. We have only one thing to say about this outfit: what’s up with the shoes, Mr. Gatsby?
6.24.09: correction: our facebook friends pointed out that city rep beto o’rourke’s suit is a butter cream, not white. will update blog and apologies to global fashionistas and fbfs.

Moda Urbana 6.15.09 Crinoline+Rhinestones
by Jessica Escalante
I spotted these two sisters downtown on Saturday night. I thought they looked like dolls. I love how they kept their tops basic and let the skirts give the WOW factor. I also love the rhinestone detailing on the gray skirt. Crinoline+Rhinestones=F-U-N!

Moda Urbana 6.1.09: Cute Moms
I totally believe that staying cute and stylish after you have children is very difficult, if not darn near impossible. So how excited was I when I stumbled upon this cute mom at a school picnic! She topped off her outfit with a hat that has been run over “more times than my heart.” The pants are a cotton, linen blend from Chico’s $19! Kudos to this mom of two that is keeping it real and leaving the house looking chic! -Lisa Degliantoni

Mi Vida en Radio KAMA 8.14.08
Today was super fun in the radio studio as both Melina Castro and Emma Acosta, City Representative for District 4 and District 3, joined me to talk about life on the 10th floor at City Hall.
That’s Melina Castro on the lower left and this is Emma Acosta on the right. Both representatives were very conversational, smart and fun. As you know, on Charlando con La Gringa, we ask elected officials to imitate animals. Melina imitated a cat and Emma couldn’t think of animal to imitate, so she promised to do that next time.
David K on KAMA
David K has been on Charlando con la Gringa lately and he is funny, for a white guy. Although he mostly likes to talk about politics, I like to talk about hot politicians, like Beto O’Rourke, who I admitted yesterday (on live radio) is very hot, for a white guy. (Speaking of hot politicans, City Representative Beto O’Rourke will be on Charlando this Friday with County Commissioner Veronica Escobar.)
David K is a frequent guest and I’ll blog more on him later, I’ve got to get to the studio.
